first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York Federal authorities are investigating the crash landing of a homemade helicopter on a sod farm in Aquebogue that injured the 71-year-old pilot over the weekend, authorities said.Erwin Rodger of Mattituck was flying his Mosquito ultralight helicopter when he had a mechanical issue and needed to make an emergency landing near Vineyard Way shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, Riverhead Town Police said.The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and will be investigating the incident.Rodger was taken to the Peconic Bay Medical Center by for medical evaluation.The helicopter, a kit that Rodger put together, had no room for passengers.last_img
