Grocers’ Association Re-elects MacDonald Chairman

first_imgBURLINGTON, VT – The Vermont Grocers’ Association has re-elected Bill MacDonald of the Waits River General Store as Chairman. Mr. MacDonald operates a family owned market in Topsham, VT along with his wife, Donna. Also re-elected were Darcy Nutter of Price Chopper Supermarkets as Vice Chairman and Dwight LaFountain of Jiffy Mart Stores as Secretary-Treasurer. Bill is the Moderator for both the town of Topsham and the Unified School District-#36 and is a trustee of the local volunteer fire department. He served as the business manager for the Valley Health Center as it transformed from an independent health care provider into part of the Little Rivers FQHC. He continues to serve on the board of the Valley Health Center, is the Chairman of the Topsham planning committee, serves as an auditor for USD-#36 and has been a member of the Grocers’ board since 1997. In addition, the following people were elected or re-elected to serve on the organization’s board of directors: Eric Allen of Mac’s Markets in Rutland, VT, Dave Bouffard of Derby Village Store in Derby, VT, Todd Keyworth of Harborside Harvest Market in No. Hero, VT, Dwight LaFountain of Jiffy Mart Stores in Claremont, NH, Michael Violette of Associated Grocers of NE in Pembroke, NH, Clem Nilan of City Market in Burlington, VT, Joe Kamuda of Kamuda’s Market in Pittsford, VT, Joe Cafarelli of HP Hood in Barre, VT. Doug Tschorn of the Wayside Country Store in West Arlington, VT and Kim Crosby of Vermont Roots in Rutland, VT The following outgoing board members were also recognized at the meeting:Steven Clayton of Shelburne Supermarket, Al Lesage of Hannaford, Greg Rouille of McKenzie’s and Stephanie Rieke of Nutty Steph’s Granola. The Vermont Grocers’ Association is a statewide organization representing approximately 680 stores and 250 suppliers to the industry. The elections took place at the association’s annual meeting at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel on September 28, 2008.last_img
